Cheyanne Mumphrey is a national reporter for The Associated Press covering K-12 education in the U.S. She is also a media consultant for small business owners under the Define I Project, LLC.
Mumphrey reports on educational experiences in the U.S. with a focus on student and teacher voices. She is also an avid photographer, often shooting still imagery along with her own reporting at the AP. Her work has been published in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
She got her start at Northern Arizona University where she worked for The Lumberjack newspaper, NAZToday, KJACK Radio and the university's athletics department. She was also a Division I champion student-athlete. Mumphrey also worked for Hawaii News Now as a digital producer through the Dow Jones News Fund internship program.
Mumphrey has a master’s degree in communication studies and a bachelor's degree in journalism.
